Shelf Clocks

Shelf clocks, also known as mantel clocks, are stylish and compact timepieces designed to be placed on a shelf, mantelpiece, or any flat surface. They often feature intricate designs and craftsmanship, serving as both functional timekeepers and elegant decor elements.

French Cathedral clock with animation on bell circa 1860

Crafted around 1860, the French Cathedral clock is a captivating horological masterpiece that transcends mere timekeeping. This opulent timepiece boasts a resplendent gold exterior, adorned with Roman numerals, and its face features an elegant red background, adding a touch of sophistication.

What sets this clock apart is not just its aesthetic appeal but the enchanting animation it brings to life. As the hands gracefully move across the clock’s face, a bell sounds to signal the time — chiming the exact number of times representative of each passing hour. This distinctive feature transforms the act of timekeeping into a captivating symphony, where each note holds the essence of a specific hour.

Additionally, the clock makes a melodious ring every half-hour, contributing to the rhythmic cadence of its timekeeping. Functioning as a mantle clock, the French Cathedral clock incorporates a pendulum, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail typical of the 19th-century clockmaking tradition.

Beyond its practical utility, this timepiece stands as a true work of art, seamlessly blending functionality with visual allure. With its regal gold exterior, Roman numerals, and now, the elegant red background, the French Cathedral clock is a testament to an era where timekeeping was an art form in itself.

Brought in an anniversary clock that I’d bought at an antique store. Christian took the time to explain to me how it works, how to care for it, how to transport it, set the time, & gave me a tour of his amazing shop. That was 2 months ago & the clock is still keeping perfect time! What an example of extraordinary service & an inventory of stunning clocks that you can’t imagine. Very worth your time to peruse. It’s like a free clock museum. From antiquity to modern times!

Brought in mechanical moving parts off my antique Grandfather clock for repair, they got the job done in a timely matter and did a great job! For the cost, under $200 parts and labor. Very impressed!

Great family owned full service clock shop. They specialize in repair, sales, and in house service calls. They have been around and doing business for 35+ years and do a great job. I have bought clocks and had some repaired there and they are extremely knowledgeable. Check them out in North OKC off N. Wilshire and N. May.
